Collection: Games Workshop Technical Paints
Technical paints are the finishing-stage specialists — each one does something no standard paint can. This is how you get cracked wasteland bases, dripping wounds, crusty rust and glowing energy without hunting down separate modelling materials. If Base, Shade and Layer paints get a model painted, Technicals are what make it tell a story.
For effects, Blood for the Blood God gives a wet, glossy gore straight from the pot, Nihilakh Oxide adds instant verdigris to bronze and copper, and Typhus Corrosion paired with Nurgle’s Rot is a grimy dream for Death Guard and anything battle-worn. Basing is just as quick: Astrogranite and Martian Ironearth build textured ground in a single spread, while Agrellan Earth crackles into dried, broken terrain as it dries.
The range also covers the practical essentials every painter needs: Lahmian Medium for thinning and glazing without weakening colour, and Stormshield or ’Ardcoat to protect a finished model. Pot sizes vary — mostly 24ml, with 12ml for the effect paints.
Because each Technical paint behaves so differently — some crackle, some pool, some dry glossy — a little experimentation goes a long way, so it’s always worth testing on a spare model or an offcut of base before committing to your centrepiece. Applied thoughtfully, even one or two of these pots can lift an otherwise standard paint job into something that genuinely stops people at the table. They’re the details that reward a closer look.
