Collection: Games Workshop Spray Paints
Priming by hand is fine for a single model. For a whole squad — or a whole army — sprays save you hours and lay down a smoother, thinner undercoat than a brush ever will. Games Workshop’s aerosols are colour-matched to their Base pots, so any missed spot tidies up perfectly with the equivalent paint. A good spray undercoat is the fastest quality upgrade most painters can make.
Start with a universal primer: Chaos Black for instant shadows and fast dark schemes, or White Scar for bright, vivid colours. Painting with Contrast? Wraithbone and Grey Seer are the two undercoats that range was built around. There are army-specific basecoats too — Mephiston Red, Macragge Blue, Leadbelcher and Retributor Armour — that basecoat a unit in seconds. When the paint’s done, seal and protect your models with a varnish from the Technical range.
Each can holds 400ml and gives a smooth matte finish. The golden rules: shake well, spray in short light passes from around 15–20cm, and only ever prime on a mild, dry day — cold and humidity are the enemy of a clean coat and the most common cause of a chalky, gritty finish. Always spray in a well-ventilated space.
One can covers a surprising number of models, which makes sprays the most cost-effective way to prime a growing collection. Just remember that a spray sets the foundation for everything above it — a rushed, over-wet coat will fill detail and haunt you through every later stage, so a few careful passes are always worth the extra minute.
Note: aerosols may be in-store pickup only due to courier restrictions — check the product page. Match them with the Base paint range for touch-ups, or the Contrast range if you’re priming light.
